I did suggest, via twitter, that I might do something different for my blog covering yesterdays events. However, I didn’t get it finished. In fact, I think it might take longer than I expected. So I’ll keep working on it & hopefully have it for you in a few weeks. Then again, it will probably end up on the pile of things I have to do, along with iPhone apps, 2 novels, floors I need to put down… 🙂
So instead – my normal format.
Yesterday was our now normal weekend routine. We ran around with our TR characters until mid afternoon when the Defense Guild members turned up. We didn’t actually get that much done with the TR’s, but it was possibly the easiest Crucible run we’ve done yet. I think I may have run round that maze way too many times 🙂 And Hymm has now taken level 16.
So we switched to our high level characters to team up with DG. And decided, since we’d got most of the usual raids run the day before, to have another crack at Caught in the Web.
The party consisted of:-
- Dimachaerii (monk)
- Rowendar (cleric)
- Aldrac (rogue)
- Jaisa (sorc)
- Defense Guild
- Samius (wizard)
- Tobril (monk)
- Dezember (monk)
- Shuhei (rogue)
In we go 🙂
It was actually a very smooth run for the most part. Part 1 was cleared easily, apart from Lolth realising that Jaisa had the least number of hit points in the party and deciding to stomp on him at every opportunity! I managed to avoid being thrown off the platform this time, which was a nice change 🙂
Part 2 (as I’m calling it) was a fairly straightforward run up through the Demon Web. We took out the portals without any real trouble.
And then we hit the last part, the portal keepers…. No idea what happened, but half the party died, we regrouped and Anna was pulled back to the beginning. OK, no problem. We pulled back, those of us still alive cleared up some of the trash, and we ran back to Anna. Picked her up and made our way back through to the portal keepers. At that point we could see that there were 2 left to deal with. Samius takes control of Anna and we get the first portal keeper out of the way while he runs her up to the portal.
Just the exalted necromancer left to deal with…. a quick dash across to him, clear out the trash and down he goes..down goes the portal – and Samius and Anna are through. BOOM!
Our first CitW completion 😛 Obviously, we only ran it on normal, but we were pleased all the same. 5 chests and some decent loot dropped :- 1 commendation, Shuhei pulled Agony and Rowendar pulled Breach.
This will now be added to our weekly raid runs 🙂
Have fun, see you around!

Glad you enjoyed it. I found it a bit dull
Nicely done Grim! It looked like a clean run, not to mention very decent drops, Breach being a very nice weapon indeed hehe 😀
Grats and hope you’ll get the chance to run more of it!
i like the party make up i hope i get similar ones so if the bastard sword drops i may get a chance at it 🙂
🙂 Very nice. Congraz.
The Portal Keeper part is the most challenging part of the raid, because it’s the part where just blindly killing stuff can screw you over. If the party doesn’t coordinate who they kill and when they kill them, you get respawns and it ends up taking a lot longer than necessary. We’ve gotten in the habit of having the party and Ana wait up top next to the barrier at the last portal, while one or two people work below to bring non-portal keeper stragglers to the group for murder, then finally the last of the portal keepers.
@Dom – take less people – spice it up a bit 🙂
@Finch yeah I think that’s why we completed this week. We just had an initial *blip* when we first started on that part 🙂 I expect the next run to go even better 🙂
What happened was when we rushed to the second island we spread out and agroed a lot of trash. Mainly none instakilling trash and when we did try to get reorganized and fell back we hit those spell traps and died.
think we need to clear island 1, then pull/activate from island 2 and turn off those spell traps then clear the agro and then rush to island 3 (letting Ana do her thing on ball 4) and then finish things up.
