Completionist Life – Complete

It’s taken a month, but in the next day or so I should hit 28 on my current life. The Artibard (or Bardificer as I’ve seen it called) is still a ton of fun to play, more so this time round as I made sure to put points into Perform (I just didn’t put anything into Spot – we know where all the traps tend to be) so I’ve managed to get it into the mid 70’s. When I hit 26 I also changed my enhancements to remove the rune arm from my Swashbuckler tree, going to the more traditional buckler usage and bringing Low Blow into my available skills. (Well, Turbine fixed Trip so I needed it!)

Had to get an armour kit – the dragonscale docent is ugly!

It’s also been a good week for running epics, as we caught up with our guildie Aldrac at around the level 20 mark. Or maybe he caught up with us then overtook us… I forget. Anyway, whatever, we could group together. He’s running a Paladin/Fighter build, so with him & Rach as her pure Paladin we just jumped into the epics on eE from the start.

This isn’t something Rach & I normally do. We probably could run eE as a duo but it would take longer. I’m happy to admit that my builds are not “uber” and running through on eH is fine with us. But Rach’s Paladin is a complete rock. She can just stand there and take anything thrown at her, she’s saved my arse several times this life with her Lay on Hands, so even when Aldrac wasn’t around we continued with the eE’s. Made a nice change for us – and a lot of XP quickly.

The Thrill of the Hunt, Wheloon

What Goes Up, Storm Horns

When we hit 20 we made the effort to flag for the House Cannith raids for this life. Both myself & Aldrac want some alchemical gear. I’ve been meaning to do it for several lives but never seem to get around to it. So last weekend we attempted a 3 man run of Master Artificer. It went really well – until the last fight. It took a while to get the Titans beaten down, but once we did we didn’t have the range DPS to get Toven down. The Titans came back, we decided to leave.

Lord of Blades – one of the prettiest raids in the game

Master Artificer – take 2

This weekend, with a few more people around, we ran both Lord of Blades and Master Artificer. The Lord of Blades was just Heroic Elite, in order to get Tier 1 crafting materials and was really easy. Master Artificer we ran on Epic Normal, again for the materials we needed, and damn me if an akchemical quarterstaff didn’t drop for me! Just what I wanted – the DDO loot gods must have been feeling generous πŸ˜€ I think I actually have what I need for the Tier 1 upgrade so hopefully I can get that done this week.

Now to upgrade it

Since the builds are working out so well we’ve decided not to TR immediately, but to spend this week trying to get some gear together. I’d like to pick up a Celestia for the next few Bard & Artibard lives, so that means running Caught in the Web. Both myself & Rach would like to run the Thunder Peak raids if possible. So we may actually have to pug this week – shocking! πŸ˜›

Mobile App Update

Did I mention I’m terrible at motivating myself outside of work for writing code? Well, I am. The app hasn’t got very far 😦 However, I had an idea for another app which would be smaller, so easier to write and a good way to get started. I’m not going to give details yet, because although I’m feeling optimistic this week there’s still a good chance I’ll find other things to do…

Like raids πŸ˜€

But I will try my best to make some progress then share with you.

Have fun, see you around!

This Week and Some Firsts

It’s been my usual week of DDO, but I have had a few ‘first times’ happen.

Monday & Thursday was Orien night as usual. Micki & Dom got me flagged for the Titan raid, which I’ve never done. In fact, as a rule my guild hates the Restless Isles. The only mission we ever do out there is the Shrieking Mines, so finishing Ghola-Fan was my first ‘first’ πŸ™‚

The rest of the week has been spent running my TR Hymm. He’s now 19, closing in on 20. My other two guildies have hit 20 now. We’ve moved onto the missions in Amrath, and dragged legend out there with us on Sunday afternoon as he has recently picked up the pack. His bard did a lovely job of mes’ing the trash in Sins of Attrition πŸ™‚

Caught in the Web – Finally!!

I did suggest, via twitter, that I might do something different for my blog covering yesterdays events. However, I didn’t get it finished. In fact, I think it might take longer than I expected. So I’ll keep working on it & hopefully have it for you in a few weeks. Then again, it will probably end up on the pile of things I have to do, along with iPhone apps, 2 novels, floors I need to put down… πŸ™‚

So instead – my normal format.

Yesterday was our now normal weekend routine. We ran around with our TR characters until mid afternoon when the Defense Guild members turned up. We didn’t actually get that much done with the TR’s, but it was possibly the easiest Crucible run we’ve done yet. I think I may have run round that maze way too many times πŸ™‚ And Hymm has now taken level 16.

Saturday Update

Firstly, apologies for the lack of a blog last week. But Samius did a fine job of covering for me πŸ™‚

During the week I’ve been running my main TR, Hymm, on Sarlona. He’s taken 15 and will probably be taking 16 soon, so looking at getting the Gianthold flagging missions out of the way.

The twice weekly runs on Orien continue. Monday we ran VoN 1-4 which, regardless of a few hitches with traps, went very nicely. Thursday we reran Deleras Tomb. As my artificer had already run these I switched to my light monk, which made a nice change πŸ™‚

Weekly Catch Up

Well, it’s been another busy week in real life but I’ve managed to get some decent gaming time in – here goes πŸ™‚

During the week I’ve been running my main TR, Hymm, on Sarlona and had a few nights running with Micki & Dom on Orien.

Because both my TR’s had hit level 13, but two of our guildies are not really playing at the moment, the other 3 of us decided to switch which TR’s we were concentrating on. Hymm is my main guy that I like the most πŸ™‚ He’s now at level 14 and with 15 banked.

Thursday night I ran the Phiarlan Carnival chain which went really well. Though Micki has no idea how to find her way around A Small Problem πŸ™‚ Friday we ran The Pit & Gwylans Stand. I got to run these with my level 8 light monk I’m experimenting with on Orien and yay! I didn’t die πŸ™‚

Dancing with Defense

This weekend was a bit up & down. Or rather, down and up… Saturday was a bit of a bust. I actually thought I’d picked up a flu bug, but turned out the cold I’ve had for the last week decided to up the stakes. So I didn’t really do anything on Saturday.

On Sunday, feeling slightly better, I got dragged back online by my partner and discovered Tolero was currently pugging on Sarlona for her 24 hour charity drive. So we jumped in Red Willow Ruins with her group. That was fun πŸ™‚ And congratulations once again to her for managing 24+ hours of gaming. How great is the DDO community for raising that much cash?

One of our other guildies arrived later on and we ran the first chain in Eveningstar with his newly capped paladin. I got some nice XP, getting me closer to finishing my 3rd level of US. I think once I’ve hit that and got my next fate point, I’ll switch to another destiny. Although I’ll miss those hit points…

Finally, last night, we grouped with Samius, Torrance & Tobril of the Defense Guild and ran a few raids, eH Chrono & hH VoD. That was a lot of fun πŸ™‚ They really know their stuff, and it’s a lot easier running them with a group of 7 compared to our usual 4 or 5 πŸ™‚ My partner was pleasantly surprised to realise her cleric hadn’t had to pot once.

Hopefully, our 5th guildee will get his internet sorted out this week and will be back with us by the weekend. Just in time for Mabar πŸ™‚

Have fun, see you around!

Update 15, Bugs & Apps

We ran the new content on Monday. I did find it funny that I kept seeing tweets and posts from Turbine about new monsters in the update… when they are just green flesh golems πŸ™‚ But the missions themselves are pretty fun, the last mission in particular looks great. Sure, there are bugs with the missions, sure there are new bugs created by the update (will todays hotfix sort some of these out I wonder?) but there was nothing that caused us to actually stop running the missions.

Meanwhile, my partner would really, REALLY like Turbine to get that invisibility bug sorted out, which they reckon had been fixed but hasn’t. If you haven’t seen it, it occurs when you go from one instance to another in a zone. For example, running between decks on the guild ship. Or in and out of caves in the Orchard of the Macabre. You pop out and all you can see is a floating weapon. I’ve only had it happen a few times myself, but she has it happen a LOT! Lol

The Shroud & VoD raids continue as we try to get some nice gear for our next TR lives. We’re also trying different combinations of characters in the hope we can continue running them once our level 25’s have been reduced back to level 1 πŸ™‚

In other news, jjflanigan has put together an android & iOS app for Cannith Crafting. Very useful and I highly recommend you give it a try!

***EDIT***
I really wish they’d fixed the hirelings in the hotfix today. Or is it just me that has hirelings that refuse to stand still when I tell them explicitly to do so??
