A few weeks ago Tobril mentioned he was reading one of the Percy Jackson books. I’d heard of them, mainly from when the first film came out, but never actually read any of the books. With his recommendation I decided to pick up the first of the set for my Kindle and give it a go. I’m going to try not to spoil the story for anybody who hasn’t read it but just in case – skip to the end for a general review 🙂
New York, New York
If you’re looking for a blog about DDO you need to move right along – not happening this week 🙂 For a change this is a more personal blog.
If you follow me on Twitter then you will already know this. Last week my partner, Rach, & I went to New York for 5 days. It’s the first time I’ve been to New York (well, I passed through JFK on my way to San Francisco once but I don’t think that counts!) and her first time in America. This is my way of recounting the experiences, sharing some pictures and possibly providing a bit of a newb guide 😀
Tuesday
The holiday actually started with a ‘local’ event i.e. in the UK. A few months ago I bought tickets for the Alter Bridge gig in Manchester. If you don’t know who Alter Bridge are, you should be ashamed of yourself and go click on that click I just provided. Or this one. Go on, I’ll wait 🙂

Hymm – 6th Life & XP Thoughts
Hymm hit level 20 on Sunday and I thought I’d just recap on how this life has gone in terms of levelling pains…
I TR’d into this life on 19th August after Otto boxing on my previous life. This is Hymms 6th life, my aim now being to try & reach triple completionist with him. This life has been a stick build (I mistakenly called it a Juggernaut build in my previous post. It’s not, sorry) of 8 ranger/6monk/6 rogue.
This life has been myself and Row with her character Nightley. Row decided to try one of my previous Hymm builds of helf cleric dille 10 fighter/9 monk/1 artificer. She had to adapt it slightly with the new enhancement system, but overall she has enjoyed the build. With her build having cleric dille and mine armed with a stack of pots & UMD, we did quite well keeping an eye on each others health, especially at the lower levels.

British Invasion
First – apologies for this going out, for me, later than normal on a Monday. I’m ill today so this has been delayed from my usual time of Monday morning (that’s in comparison to when I normally blog if I have anything to blog about!)
Second – as Mizz mentioned in her last blog there have been quite a few blogs within the OurDDO community lately about guilds. Sorry – this is another one. Well, partially. I’ll try and throw some other stuff in too. Feel free to skip down if you’d prefer.
I hope you don’t though 😀

Playing a Bit of Everything
Although I have played my TR Hymm during my normal evening game play, I’ve jumped around with who I play over the weekend more than I normally do. Usually I seem to pick a character and run him all weekend. Oh and we helped out a friend 🙂 more on that later.
General Update
So, honestly, I don’t really have much to blog about. But I’m overdue writing something so I though I’d better do a random update 🙂
Hymm
I TR’d Hymm a month ago and have been running him weekdays with another guildie. He’s currently at 14 with 15 banked. The plan is to have him be a 8 ranger / 6 rogue / 6 monk stick build. So far the build is working out well. The damage is good and the ranger levels enabling many shot.. well.. many shot is my new favourite thing 😀 With the changes to XP I was worried about how leveling would go. We’ve seen the XP drop on repeats, but the change to the XP curve from life 3 onward has not been changed yet. So far it’s been OK. But from level 12 we have noticed it starting to become a bit of work. I’m not much for grinding out the same mission over & over again, though I have done it before now and in a group it’s less of a pain. But I prefer to run different things. We’ve managed to get to 15 without having to repeat anything, we’ve started to make more of an effort with explorer areas (with slays) and House C challenges. Once we take 15 I imagine we will start to repeat things, mainly Gianthold & Vale missions. But those I enjoy, so I don’t mind running them a few times. With any luck, the U19 Patch 2 will be released soon and the Gianthold Heroic Saga will help too.

U19 – The Story So Far…
Everyone who plays DDO will know that this week the Shadowfell Conspiracy expansion pack was released. There has been happiness, anger, ranting.. all over the place – twitter, the forums etc.. Here’s my thoughts so far.

TR’ing
While playing with my guildies the other week and chatting about characters and plans, I decided to switch around on my character ideas some. Originally my plan was to have Hymm take lives he could use to improve himself when he eventually went back to being a monk. Fyrne was intended to be my completionist.

Oh, bugger, I have a cleric…
Wylle Eckerslike – that’s my cleric.
Firstly, the name… well that’s a joke and to be honest, unless you have an idea of northern UK dialect, it would take way too long to explain. Suffice to say, the name Wylle has had several jokes & comments made about it. “Let’s play with your Wylle”, “Come here so I can touch your Wylle” (that was for a Masters Touch) etc etc. Yes, my guildies are all pervs – that’s why I get on with them so well 😀
Sarlona Weekend (with some silliness)
I didn’t get as much time to play this weekend as I’d hoped, but the time I did get was productive, fun and maybe just a little bit silly…
Friday
Myself & two guildies ran the High Road chain. I know myself & Row were running our latest TR chars (Hymm & Willowing), I’m not sure what Aldrac was running… the guy TR’s so much I can’t keep track lately 😛 The run was just eH on everything. It went very smooth, we all have self heal capabilities with our builds, including ED’s, which makes things a lot easier 🙂 And with it being first time run, nice XP!
