Quick Update

I haven’t done a DDO based blog for a while so I thought I’d throw in a quick update. No pictures I’m afraid – I was too busy having fun & forgot to snap any 😀

The last few weeks I’ve been concentrating mainly on two of my characters – Dimachaerii & Hymm.

Dimachaerii has been run mainly during the week, when I’ve played. I must admit I’ve been having a lot of fun in real life lately so have not played as much as I could have. However, he’s now at level 13 with level 14 banked. I will probably push a bit harder now to get him to 20 so I can use him for weekend epic/raid runs while I concentrate on Hymm’s next few lives.

Hymm my main (and favourite) character is now capped at level 28, ready for the epic TR stone to drop on December 12th (woohoo – free stone! Thanks Turbine!). I’ve managed to get approx 2000 Comms of Valor since the changes came in on Hymm. I think he was level 24 when that happened, so I guess that’s not too bad…. and that’s just from running our usual cycle of epic raids and quests on a weekend.

My plans for Hymm as they currently stand are to epic TR when I get his free stone, then heroic TR into an iconic character. Getting him back to level 28 should get me enough comms for an iconic TR stone (although I have bought 2 while they were on sale this weekend so I don’t have to worry about it). From there I shall be iconic TR’ing to get the maximum stack of iconic past life feats while knocking out some class lives for working towards his completionist status.

The problem is – I’ve really enjoyed this life. He’s ranger 8 / rogue 6 / monk 6 stick build. I’ve fully upgraded his Sireth, almost fully upgraded his Pinion and I really, really enjoy playing him. I will miss the build and suspect this may be the build I use for his end life (as things stands at the moment). I have decided that, as much as I can, all following lives will be stick builds (especially since I now have a nice collection of quarterstaffs!). Next life – assassinating stick wielding Shadar-Kai 😀

Have fun, see you around!

While playing with my guildies the other week and chatting about characters and plans, I decided to switch around on my character ideas some. Originally my plan was to have Hymm take lives he could use to improve himself when he eventually went back to being a monk. Fyrne was intended to be my completionist.

Oh, bugger, I have a cleric…

Wylle Eckerslike – that’s my cleric.

Firstly, the name… well that’s a joke and to be honest, unless you have an idea of northern UK dialect, it would take way too long to explain. Suffice to say, the name Wylle has had several jokes & comments made about it. “Let’s play with your Wylle”, “Come here so I can touch your Wylle” (that was for a Masters Touch) etc etc. Yes, my guildies are all pervs – that’s why I get on with them so well 😀

One with the dark

After several re-writes and the help of my awesome guildmates, I finally came up with a dark monk build that I liked the look of and had all the features I was trying to get in there. For your amusement I thought I’d post the details of what I’m calling my ‘Dark Dervish’. I’ll let you know how he works out 🙂

Going over to the dark side…

I have a clonk that has kind of stalled at level 11. I don’t think I really thought it through when I decided to build a warforged monk/cleric … Well I never said I was the best builder of characters!

Anyway, I picked up a +5 heart of wood a few weeks ago and made a start on getting rid of those cleric levels, I’ve decided to re-spec as a pure dark monk. I guess I could have re-rolled him and started again. But he has a full set of +2 tomes and some BtC Mabar wraps that I didn’t want to lose.

I’ve decided to give the dark side a proper try with my rebuild. Dimachearii (derived from Dimachaerus – a gladiator who fought with two swords) will have both touch of death and whirlwind attack.

I suspect he will look awesome but do sucky damage. Ah well, we’ll see 🙂

Ideal party structure?

I’m a member of a small guild (6 members) on Sarlona, Heros of the Dragon’s Wrath (yes, I know, it’s mispelled – don’t get me started!).

Due to the various times the members play, some of us have ended up with characters further ahead then other members. It’s made playing together a bit more problematic – which is annoying.

So I’ve suggested to the other guild members that we create a static group, we all agree to only play when everybody else is around and try and play at least once a week. So far everyone thinks it’s a good idea. The trouble is we’re having problems deciding what the class structure should be.

My initial thoughts were 1 dps, 1 healer, 1 caster, 1 rogue (all that xp for traps!) – but what about the other 2 spots? I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts!

Paladin Builds

So, this is my top guy on DDO at the moment. I’ve spent more time with him than any of my other chars and he’s nearly at level 20. I still have concerns about his build though. I’ve followed some guides I found online, made a few decisions along the way and now I’m not sure I should have gone with the Turn Undead enhancements….any experienced paladins out there care to comment? I have thrown 5 levels of fighter in – maybe this has impacted the Turn Undead performance?
