XP Craziness

The title says it all really πŸ˜€

The past week has been all about the XP in DDO. I’m not sure why but I was determined for Hymm to hit 28 by the weekend. The previous weekend he was a few thousand short of level 25. Rach switched to her cleric who was still lurking around at level 26 and still needed some Epic Destinies finishing off and we spent most of the week duo’ing.. well.. just about everything! Every now and again we’d have Aldrac, Tobril or Samius join us, which just made the quests even more fun and faster.

Saturday afternoon we logged on and our guildie Korv was on. He doesn’t play as much as he used to but we knew he was going to be around on Saturday and his level 21 artificer needed to finish flagging for VoN, so we started with those, then just kept on going. We were joined later in the day by Aldrac & Tobril. By the end of the days play, his character had reached level 24 and was flagged for both VoN and CitW. Hymm was level 27.

General Update

So, honestly, I don’t really have much to blog about. But I’m overdue writing something so I though I’d better do a random update πŸ™‚

Hymm
I TR’d Hymm a month ago and have been running him weekdays with another guildie. He’s currently at 14 with 15 banked. The plan is to have him be a 8 ranger / 6 rogue / 6 monk stick build. So far the build is working out well. The damage is good and the ranger levels enabling many shot.. well.. many shot is my new favourite thing πŸ˜€ With the changes to XP I was worried about how leveling would go. We’ve seen the XP drop on repeats, but the change to the XP curve from life 3 onward has not been changed yet. So far it’s been OK. But from level 12 we have noticed it starting to become a bit of work. I’m not much for grinding out the same mission over & over again, though I have done it before now and in a group it’s less of a pain. But I prefer to run different things. We’ve managed to get to 15 without having to repeat anything, we’ve started to make more of an effort with explorer areas (with slays) and House C challenges. Once we take 15 I imagine we will start to repeat things, mainly Gianthold & Vale missions. But those I enjoy, so I don’t mind running them a few times. With any luck, the U19 Patch 2 will be released soon and the Gianthold Heroic Saga will help too.

TR’ing

While playing with my guildies the other week and chatting about characters and plans, I decided to switch around on my character ideas some. Originally my plan was to have Hymm take lives he could use to improve himself when he eventually went back to being a monk. Fyrne was intended to be my completionist.

Hymm Follow Up – Epic Levels

Last weekend, we had the mad dash from 1 – 20 with our TR’s. This weekend was all about the epic XP. The three of us from the HotDW guild had hit the House P chain and part of the House D chain during the week. Once the DG joined us on Saturday we ran through the Red Fens & VoN chains on EH, followed by the first 2 quests in the Lords of Dust chain.

Again, I have to say that the team, with all the self heals we have going on (helf cleric dille, warforged, UMD) blitzed through without any real problems. I guess it also helps that we’re all on 3+ lives so have lots of gear. I didn’t actually realise how many clickies I had on Hymm…..

TR Weekend

As you’ll know if you readΒ Samius’ blog, 3 of my guild and 3 of his guild TR’d last weekend. We’d all purchased Otto Boxes while they were on sale in the Turbine store and were waiting for confirmation of when the next XP bonus weekend would be. I wasn’t expecting it to be the following weekend.. oh well – all plans put on hold πŸ˜€

Weekly Run Down

It’s been a busy week, both in DDO & real life. But since I’m fairly sure you don’t want to hear about the project I’m on at work that’s filling my spare hours, or how I’m ripping out my garden, I’ll stick with DDO πŸ™‚

We got one guildie back, then lost two. One of the guys has had some changes at work, so he can’t play for a few weeks. One guy has a new girlfriend. So we’re down to our three main players at the moment.

Thursday night I played on Orien again. Was killed for the first time ever by lag. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had plenty of lag in game before. But this was a complete standstill, cannot do anything while a horde of orcs massacred the party πŸ™‚

Catch Up

It’s not been the most exciting of weeks, so I haven’t much to pass along. But I’m going to bore you all with it anyway πŸ™‚

Our 5th guildie finally got his internet sorted out, so managed to get a few days of Mabar in with him before it dropped. Unfortunately all my farming plans seem to have gone out the window, I think I’ll have to get serious with it when (if?) it comes back later this month.

We’re gradually getting back to running our TR’s, who are now at 13 (Hymm, with 14 banked) and 11 (Fyrne with 12 banked).

I do miss my light monk though. So I cheated and created a Vet II light monk on Orien to try my whirlwind build with. He doesn’t get played very often, but it’s nice to jump on with him now & then.

Yesterday I realised that there is one mission in the whole of DDO that I actually hate. It’s the Claw of Vulkoor. Why you ask? It’s the damn Priestess Ionna! She sounds like Michael Jackson, whispering in my ear. Bugs me! lol

OK, that’s me for now.

Have fun, see you around!

This week in DDO…

Well, nothing especially exciting has happened in the last week or so, but here’s a quick recap anyway.

Hymm, my 3rd lifer, is now a level 12 barbarian (I think I have level 13 banked… if not I’m close) and I’m happily running around bashing things over the head with great axes. The team has a nice combo going and we seem to be able to cover all the bases (healing, trapping, cc etc). We even did Hold for Reinforcements at level, on elite, over the weekend. I hate that guy… did you know a fire mephit only has to LOOK at him and he dies?!? However, kudos to my missus who spent the 15 minutes of the mission stood over Coyle with her paladin, healing as required, while we killed πŸ™‚

My second 3rd lifer, Fyrne, is now a level 6 fighter. I’m getting good dps from him too. He’s not quite as much fun as the barbarian though… and I’m seriously considering LR’ing him to add a splash of rogue. This is partly because we are definitely lacking rogue skills from this group. And yes, I know, if you know where the traps are you should be able to avoid them etc but where’s the fun in that? Plus, I like the idea of having evasion. I think that sorts my lunch break at work out – playing with the character planner πŸ™‚

My dark monk has finally switched epic destinies, from GMoF to LD. But I will be switching back every time I do anything that won’t be giving me much XP. Which gives me a reason to run Lord of Dust even more πŸ™‚

On non DDO news, I’ve just picked up Drake 3 for the PS3 nice and cheap. I love Drake 1 & 2 and from what I’ve heard, 3 is just as good. So I may actually drag myself away from the PC for a bit when it gets delivered….. but I don’t imagine it will be for long πŸ™‚

OK that’s me done for now. Hope you’re all having fun in game. See you around!

*** EDIT ***
Well, look at me forgetting the most important thing that has happened this week!

There’s a good chance we’ll hit level 70 again tonight, as I’m not sure we got enough of a buffer in place for todays decay to hit – but woohoo anyway πŸ™‚

Holiday Endeavours

Anybody who follows me on twitter will probably know I have this week off work. (What do you mean – had? Oh bloody hell it’s Friday already!)

Anyway….

It’s been quite a productive week. Because my partner & I have the day to do stuff we’d like to get done, without worrying about dragging the guild around doing stuff, or detracting from our TR runs, we’ve managed to get a few ‘jobs’ done.

She’s crafted her GS hit point item for her light monk & rogue. I created my GS hit point item for my dark monk. We both got some Cannith gear upped to Tier 3. She finished off her Eveningstar gear selections. My dark monk got his ancient gemstone docent converted to the third part of the Woodsman’s Guile set.

We also jumped into a hard Shroud last night with a pug, which was quite fun. Part 1 went very well, part 2 took 3 attempts to get done, part 3 got a bit hairy. We had just one 5×5 puzzle to get done and the wall had arrived. There were 3 or 4 people in the puzzle room – they all died 😦 So I jump in once the wall has passed and get started on the puzzle. As I’m jumping around my partner is telling me where the wall is….got the last lights lit just as it was bearing down on me! The rest of the run went nice and smooth, with 2 LDS for me in the end chests πŸ™‚
