Subbing the Subterrane

So, I’ve asked my guildies to help me try and get the Tira’s Splendor rune arm from Garamol (who I keep wanting to call Gargamel!) tonight for my artificer. And while we’re down there, we thought we’d take a looksie at the Hound of Xoriat, see if she needs some fresh food putting down……like our limbs!!!

I expect to die horribly 🙂 Will let you know though

*** EDIT *** Well, no rune arm and we died 🙂 But gives us an idea for next time. What really made me laugh, though, was on the last death my Iron Defender pet said ‘OPTIMISM: THE BELIEF THAT EVERYTHING WILL GO AS PLANNED. BORDERING ON INSANITY.’

lmao!

Epics….

Our guild has regularly been 3-5 manning epics for a few months now. Not a big deal to the majority of DDO players I would imagine – you’ve probably been doing it for years! But we’re a small guild of friends and we like trying to do this kind of thing together to ‘learn the ropes’ as it were, rather than making complete fools of ourselves in a PUG 🙂

Up until now we’ve been running House P, House D & Red Fens. Last night we decided to try something we have not done yet – House K. We decided to start with Tharashk Arena.

The first attempt ended at Gate 1 when the trolls coming from the room got slightly rowdy, out of control, and we just couldn’t put them down quick enough. hmmm… so regroup, rethink on the tactics and back in again. I should mention that the party make-up was 2 light monks, one cleric and 1 ranger.

This time round, the light monks cookie doughed (sorry – that’s what we call Kukan-Do :-)) two of the trolls in the doorway, stunned two more with Stunning Fist, effectively blocking the doorway so they couldn’t all charge out at us. That made it nice and easy for us to stay all together to make it easier for the cleric as well as controlling the mob.

That got us to the arena itself. And this is where we discovered something we didn’t know. The rooms the monsters come out of can be accessed, if you get in there when they are coming out. Which meant, for the second round when you get the mephits, ogres, minotaurs & kobolds all at once, we could actually stagger the intake of monsters to take out by luring them apart.

So, we finished Tharashk Arena on epic for the first time last night. It took some planning and thought, but I love that this game allows you to think of strategic solutions to the high level content, rather than having to rely on certain party builds!

Rune arm crafting thoughts?

So, reading the latest blogs by Samius has reminded me of something.

I have a level 20 artificer, Othala, who I think may actually be my favourite character. I know everyone says arties don’t do good damage, but I’m seeing decent numbers off him, and lots of them. I also seem to have picked up quite a few good rune arms. My most used are Glorious Obscenity and Lucid Dreams.

What I haven’t done is taken advantage of the crafting. So, while I will be researching this myself – does anybody out there have any suggestions of what’s best to add to a rune arm? As I understand it, once it’s on there, it cannot some off, so I guess I need to choose wisely!

I’m baaaack

OK, so I’ve been a bit remiss by not updating my blog lately. To be honest, I didn’t think people would be interested in hearing the exciting adventures of my TR’ing my monk (into another monk) so soon after TR’ing my Paladin (into a Favoured Soul).

However, I capped my monks second life at the weekend and I’m quite chuffed at how he’s turned out on his second life. I think, as a guild, we will probably concentrate on running epics & challenges for the next few weeks to crunch out some gear, ready for the expansion pack release. And here’s hoping the release is on time as the majority of my guild have booked that week off work…. 🙂

Second Life Capped

We’ve just capped. Well three of us did. One of our TR group doesn’t play as often so he’s still on 18. But the rest of us are there, and the elite streak ended up at 198. So, we didn’t quite manage to get it to 200, but maybe on our next TR with these characters 🙂

More TR Progress

We got quite a bit of gaming in this weekend. A few runs of Gianthold Tor, Orchard finished, most of U9 finished and we’re at 18 with an elite streak of 186. Wondering if we can manage to get that to 200…..

However, it wasn’t all TR questing. Myself and another guild mate have signed up for Tobrils Abbot Raid training next Saturday. Being in the UK it’s hard to get into the mid week runs that he’s put together (I just can’t stay up that late on a work night anymore!) so I’m really chuffed he’s put a midday weekend one together. This will be my first Abbot raid and I’m really looking forward to it 🙂 So, Hymm spent a few hours getting the rest of those sigils and getting the pre raid done. It’s the first time I’ve run the pre raid, and I always enjoy running quests I’ve not done before – so good times 🙂

Dreaming Dark Dreams

This weekend, the guild decided to hit the Inspired Quarter with our capped characters to try and do some grinding for loot and ioun stones.

It was good to be back playing my monk. I haven’t played him for a while and I really enjoyed beating the !$&@ out of the Devourer of Dreams 🙂

It appears we weren’t the only ones to spend the weekend doing this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen quite so many people in the Inspired Quarter or on the Isle of Forgotten Dreams. So, hope you all got the loot you were after if you were out there too!

On a quick TR update, we’ve finished Gianthold Tor, elite streak now at 176 and starting the Orchard of the Macabre this week 🙂

What a load of content…

So, the TR group has now hit 157 on it’s bravery streak.

Lets just take a moment to think about that. 157 missions. All different (well, OK Splinterskull is kind of repetitive). And we’ve skipped some missions. We haven’t done any raids. We’ve just finished the last of the Sands missions, so we still have Gianthold, Orchard, Vale, Amrath to mention a few…

You have to give Turbine props – that’s a lot of content, all those different stories and tales to be told. No wonder we love this game 🙂

TR Progress

We finished off the level 11 Necro pt 3 tombs last night and hit level 14 with our characters (which will remain banked for now). One of these was Tomb of the Tormented (rat maze), which I still think is one of the more fun missions out in the Necropolis. No idea why some people don’t like it!

With the elite streak now somewhere around the 130 mark we seem to be progressing quite nicely. We haven’t had to repeat any missions, and we’ve even missed a few of the more annoying ones (*cough* Stealthy Repossession *cough*). Next up, the level 11 Sands missions

TR a go-go

So, myself, my partner and another guildie have TR’d for the first time. We’re currently farming the bravery bonus for all it’s worth, with a streak of 104 at last count. We’ve noticed a definite slow down of ranking up now that we’ve hit 10 (banked) and I can only imagine that it’s going to get longer between each rank!

However, we have another TR’d guildie waiting for us when we do level up to 10, so hopefully the 4 of us can keep on rollin’!

And since I intend to go for completionist with my char, I guess I better get used to it 🙂 I just have to decide which class to finish on…
