The Last Week in DDO

Apologies for the delay between blogs. Real life is unfortunately being a bit of a pain at the moment and making me do other stuff 😦

However, I have managed to get some quality game time in. Last week our current guild grouping hit level 20 (I was going to say capped but I guess that doesn’t apply anymore!) Which has made me really happy because it means I have a high level dark monk character I can play while I work on my multiple TR’s for my light monk. Although I did start playing around with the idea of TR’ing the dark monk build and including a splash of another class to see if there was a way to incorporate more feats… Damn I should have bought more Hearts while they were on sale!

Anyway, since the 5 of us have hit 20 together we decided to start the Eveningstar quests again. And it was great! It was like playing them as new (apart having a good idea of tactics this time round) and we all really enjoyed them again. Mind you, I do think they are some of the more fun quests in the game anyway 🙂 My dark monk now has his Ancient Gemstone docent and Grave Wrappings. I’m just working on building up commendations. I think the healing amp on the Purple Dragon Knight Gauntlets will come in very handy for him. Also, his current equipment appears to be kind of sucky…

Also, we have dragged our 5th guildie kicking & screaming through the Shroud with us. Ok maybe not so much kicking and screaming, but he did have to get himself flagged. So we are now running 5 man Shrouds every 3 days and the extra DPS is cutting the run time down to about 40-45 minutes.

Most excitingly, yesterday we attempted our first VoD. Only on normal, again only 4 of us, but it went surprisigly smooth. And I got the Enlightened Vestments (bonus – they actually look nice)! It took longer to find the entrance and get that middle button pressed! Which ended up being lit completely by accident when a tiefling ran across it while trying to get to one of us on the far side. I’ve read that a summon monster should work, but we haven’t been able to work out how you get the monster to spawn on the switch – none of us could target the switch. So if any of you guys & gals have a reliable way of hitting it – could you let me know?

Well, I guess that’s my ramblings done with. Hope you’re all having fun and I’m looking forward to todays Update 15 🙂

See you around!

Catch Up & Thanks

My monk Hymm (and several of my guildmates) has now hit level 25, although I’m currently sat at 24 until the guild are available to run the Forgotten Realms challenges at level, so we can get the most XP possible towards our epic destinies. He’s moved from Grandmaster of Flowers to Legendary Dreadnought. Not sure where to go next though….

Meanwhile, my artificer, Othala, has reached level 21 and is ploughing his way through his Draconic what-you-call-it destiny 🙂 Actually, while running him through the Demonweb chain of missions he’s picked up some nice armour for my fighter and barbarian characters. Guess I better spend some time with them then 🙂

We ran another Shroud last Friday. Ran a bit smoother than our last run, though we’re still perfecting our prep and separation of the red names in part 2. At least this time they didn’t have to abandon me to the wall in part 3 🙂

This picture is especially for Evennote. We were dancing, but those damn blades kept interrupting us while taking the picture!

OK, maybe Antaka wasn’t actually dancing, but he is nekked!

And I managed to get some time to play with my dark monk builld this weekend. He’s just hit 14 (he’s been a bit neglected recently for Faerun missions) and I’m really liking how he plays. Plus, he looks kinda awesome don’t you think?

Finally, I’d like to thank the person who sent me a tell to say ‘Hi’ while I was running through House K on Friday night, because they’d read my blogs. It made my night! 🙂 Just hope I can try and keep the stuff entertaining for you all!

See you around!

One with the dark

After several re-writes and the help of my awesome guildmates, I finally came up with a dark monk build that I liked the look of and had all the features I was trying to get in there. For your amusement I thought I’d post the details of what I’m calling my ‘Dark Dervish’. I’ll let you know how he works out 🙂

Going over to the dark side…

I have a clonk that has kind of stalled at level 11. I don’t think I really thought it through when I decided to build a warforged monk/cleric … Well I never said I was the best builder of characters!

Anyway, I picked up a +5 heart of wood a few weeks ago and made a start on getting rid of those cleric levels, I’ve decided to re-spec as a pure dark monk. I guess I could have re-rolled him and started again. But he has a full set of +2 tomes and some BtC Mabar wraps that I didn’t want to lose.

I’ve decided to give the dark side a proper try with my rebuild. Dimachearii (derived from Dimachaerus – a gladiator who fought with two swords) will have both touch of death and whirlwind attack.

I suspect he will look awesome but do sucky damage. Ah well, we’ll see 🙂
